COVID-19 is a contagious respiratory disease that starts in the lungs and may cause pneumonia-like symptoms. The virus is typically spread through airborne transmission of infectious particles by people who are infected (e.g., coughing, sneezing, breathing, speaking, singing, and exercise). Some people infected by the virus may not have any symptoms (asymptomatic) while most will exhibit moderate symptoms which can be like a common cold. More serious and severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing one one’s own may be experienced by older people and those that have other health conditions like diabetes or heart disease.
