Vaccination FAQs

Vaccination schedules provide guidance on which vaccines are generally recommended at different stages of life. Recommendations may vary based on age, health history, previous vaccinations, and other individual factors. The primary care team at Lac Vieux Desert Health Center can review your records and help you understand which vaccinations may be appropriate for you or your child.

The American Academy of Pediatrics publishes a childhood vaccination schedule that outlines recommended immunizations from birth through age 18. Parents and caregivers can review the schedule online and speak with an LVDHC provider about upcoming doses, vaccination records, and any immunizations that may have been missed.

Adult vaccine recommendations depend on factors such as age, health history, previous vaccinations, and certain risk factors. Recommended vaccines may include seasonal flu, tetanus boosters, shingles, pneumonia, RSV, hepatitis, or COVID-19 vaccines when appropriate. An LVDHC provider can review your history and help you follow an adult vaccination schedule.

Lac Vieux Desert Health Center provides routine vaccinations for children, adults, and older adults in Watersmeet, Michigan. Contact LVDHC to ask about current vaccine availability and schedule an appointment with the primary care team.

LVDHC provides seasonal flu vaccinations when available. Because recommendations and availability may change throughout the year, patients should contact the health center for current information and appointment options.

In many cases, a missed vaccine can be given at a later date without restarting the entire vaccination series. Bring any available immunization records to your appointment so your provider can review your previous doses and recommend an appropriate catch-up schedule.

Contact LVDHC if you are unsure about your vaccination history. The team can review available medical information and discuss the next steps. Records from previous healthcare providers, schools, or personal immunization cards may also help confirm which vaccines you have received.

Multiple vaccines can often be administered during one visit. Your healthcare provider will review your age, health history, and vaccination record to determine which vaccines can appropriately be given at the same appointment.
