A New Era of Healing
A New Era of Healing: Lac Vieux Desert Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians Announces $6 Million "Legacy Wellness and Motion" Expansion.
WATERSMEET, MI — The Lac Vieux Desert (LVD) Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and the Lac Vieux Desert Health Center (LVDHC) are proud to announce a transformative $6 million investment in the health and future of the community: the opening of Legacy Wellness and Motion by LVDHC. This 10,000-square-foot expansion of the current health care facility represents a visionary leap forward in integrated rural healthcare and tribal sovereignty. Consistent with LVDHC’s mission to provide exceptional care, Legacy Wellness and Motion will be open to everyone (12 yrs. and up). The facility will serve both tribal members and non-tribal residents, offering a seamless extension of the high-quality, respectful care for which LVDHC is known.
“Building a Lasting Legacy” The name Legacy Wellness and Motion was chosen to reflect the Tribe’s deep-rooted commitment to creating a permanent foundation for health that will serve members and neighbors for generations. It is more than a building; it is a promise that the "motion" of today’s progress will become the "legacy" of tomorrow’s wellness. By investing in this state-of-the-art space, the Tribe is ensuring that the path to vitality is preserved and accessible for the youth, the elders, and everyone in between.
Comprehensive Care and Cutting-Edge Amenities
The expansion significantly broadens the scope of the LVD Health Center (LVDHC). In addition to enhanced Chiropractic and Physical Therapy services, the community will now have access to:
- New Clinical Services: Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech Therapy, and professional Massage Therapy.
- Elite Fitness Center: A full gym and exercise area featuring state-of-the-art equipment designed for all fitness levels.
- Personalized Growth: On-site Wellness Coaching and Personal Training to help individuals meet their unique health goals.
- Contrast Therapy: A dedicated recovery suite featuring a Sauna and Cold Plunge, bringing world-class restorative practices to the local area.
"This expansion is a testament to the pride and resilience of our Tribe," said James Williams, Jr., Tribal Chairman. "We didn't just want to add square footage; we wanted to create a destination where healing and movement meet. Legacy Wellness and Motion is a gift to our community—a place where we can empower one another to live our strongest, healthiest lives."
Save the Dates:
The community is invited to get a first look during a tentative Soft Opening in early July, allowing patients and members to begin experiencing the new services. The celebration culminates in a Grand Opening Event on August 1st. This community-wide celebration will feature tours of the $6 million facility, demonstrations of the new equipment, and a look at how Legacy Wellness and Motion by LVDHC is redefining what it means to be healthy in the Northwoods.
