Meet Anthony “Tony” Mannila, APNP, FNP-C, LVDHC’s Newest Family Nurse Practitioner

Anthony “Tony” Mannila, APNP, FNP-C, LVD Health Centers newest nurse practitioner

LVD Health Center is pleased to welcome Anthony “Tony” Mannila, APNP, FNP-C, to our team as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Tony brings years of experience in family medicine, internal medicine, acute care, diabetes management, and pain management, along with a deeply personal commitment to caring for Native American communities.

An enrolled member of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Tony, whose Ojibwe name is Madwebinesi, brings both extensive clinical experience and a strong understanding of the communities he serves. His approach to health care centers on building meaningful relationships with patients and helping them work toward better health in all aspects of their lives.

A Patient-Centered Philosophy of Care

For Tony, quality health care begins with trust, communication, and collaboration.

“My philosophy of care is to build trusting, collaborative relationships that empower patients to achieve spiritual, physical, and emotional well-being while improving their overall health.”

This philosophy guides the way Tony works with his patients. Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or individual symptom, he strives to understand each patient's needs, goals, and circumstances. By working together, Tony helps patients make informed decisions and take an active role in their health.

Years of Experience Serving Native Communities

Tony has dedicated much of his medical career to serving Native American communities throughout Wisconsin. His clinical background includes acute care and internal medicine, as well as experience treating patients with a wide variety of complex medical conditions.

His professional experience includes:

  • Peter Christensen Health Center, 2010 to 2014
  • Lac Courte Oreilles Health Center, 2014 to 2025
  • Gerald L. Ignace Indian Health Center, 2025 to 2026

Tony has a particular interest in diabetes care and pain management. His approach to pain management focuses on helping patients improve function, mobility, and overall quality of life. Depending on a patient's individual needs, treatment may include options such as intra-articular injections, trigger point injections, physical activity, stretching, and exercise.

By combining clinical treatment with practical strategies patients can incorporate into daily life, Tony aims to help people stay active and work toward long-term improvements in their health.

Education and Professional Licensure

Tony completed his education at The College of St. Scholastica and Concordia University Wisconsin.

He is licensed to practice in both Wisconsin and Michigan and is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Rooted in Wisconsin and the Northwoods

Tony was born and raised in Milwaukee and has spent much of his life in Wisconsin's Northwoods. He raised his two children in the Ashland area and is now a proud grandfather of four.

When he is not caring for patients, Tony enjoys many of the activities that make life in the Northwoods special, including hunting, fishing, gathering, hiking, and staying active. Family and friends are also an important part of his life, whether that means cooking together or spending time at a backyard cookout.

Tony is also a lifelong Wisconsin sports fan. Patients should not be surprised to see him supporting the Packers, Brewers, or Bucks, and he is always happy to talk about the latest game.

Welcome to LVD Health Center, Tony

Tony's combination of clinical experience, commitment to Native communities, and relationship-focused approach to care makes him a valuable addition to the LVD Health Center team.

We are proud to welcome Anthony “Tony” Mannila, APNP, FNP-C, and look forward to the knowledge, compassion, and dedication he brings to our patients and community.
